Navratri 2023: The nine-day festival of Sharad Navratri, also known as Shardiya Navratri, recalls the nine forms in which the mother goddess Shakti has appeared in the universe. Pratipada is the name of the first day of Shardiya Navratri, and Maha Navami is the name of the last day. This year, the Shardiya Navratri will commence on 15th October 2023 and will go on till 23rd October 2023. Devotees engage in a variety of rituals during this festival, including the reading of the Durga Chalisa and the Durga Saptashathi. They also perform the Navratri Ghatsthapana, the Durga Aarti, the Kanya Puja, and lively Garba and Dandiya evenings. On the first day of Navratri, people worship Mata Shailputri. The divine mother Shailputri represents courage and willpower. 

Navratri 2023: How To Worship Mata Shaiputri On Shardiya Navratri Day 1 To Accumulate Good Fortune 

- You must take a bath and rise during the Brahma Muhurta in order to worship Mata Shailputri. Devotees should next properly clean your temple or puja altar. 

- Worship Mata Shailputri and pledge to fast after that.

- After the puja, worshippers should offer white flowers and apparel to Mata Shailputri. Devotees should additionally offer the divine goddess sweets made with cow ghee.

- Maa Shailputri is very drawn to white things, thus when you worship her during Pratipada, wear white and present her with white flowers and sweets.

- Finally, by lighting a ghee lamp in front of the image or idol, devotees should perform aarti to please Mata Shailputri.

- Throughout the day, devotees can chant Mata Shailputri Manta to seek her blessings. Chanting this mantra 108 times to win the divine devi’s favour:

Navratri 2023: Colour Of Shardiya Navratri Day 1 

Devotees can wear white or orange colour on this day to attract wealth, happiness, prosperity and peace in their lives. Both of these colours are adored by Mata Shailputri, the devi associated with the first day of Navratri.

Navratri 2023: Mata Shailputri Significiance 

Hindu legend attributes the name Shailputri, which means "daughter of the mountain". Maa Durga's incarnation was given the name Shailputri because, according to a narrative, she was born at the home of Parvat Raj Himalaya (the King of the Himalayas). The Himalayan king's name was Hemavan, and she went by the name Hemavati.
