Pradosh Vrat 2024 December: Puja Vidhi
To observe the Pradosh Vrat, devotees begin their fast after bathing, before sunset. They worship Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha and Nandi, offering milk and water to the Shivlinga. A Kalash is filled with water, topped with Durva grass and a lotus is drawn over it. Various offerings are made, including flowers, betel nuts, betel leaves, coins and rice.
The ritual also involves chanting Lord Shiva's powerful Mantra, 'Maha Mrityunjaya', 108 times, followed by applying sacred ash to the forehead. A significant part of the ritual is lighting a single Diya (lamp) on Pradosham, which is believed to appease the deity and yield highly fruitful results.
