Radha Ashtami 2024: Radha Ashtami, observed on the eighth day of the bright half of Bhadrapada, commemorates the birth of Radha, the epitome of love and devotion in Hinduism. As the beloved consort of Lord Krishna, Radha represents the ultimate symbol of selfless love, dedication, and devotion. Her birth anniversary is celebrated with great fervour, especially in the Braj region, where devotees throng to temples to offer prayers, flowers, and sweets. This year, Radha Ashtami will be observed on 11th September 2024.

One of the sacred rituals associated with Radha Ashtami is upholding the fast, and performing ritualistic abhishek and puja of Radha Krishna. Let us check out the shubh muhurat and puja abhishek vidhi of the revered goddess.

Madhyahna Kaal Puja and Abhishek

During the auspicious Madhyahna Kaal Puja on Radha Ashtami, performing Abhishek is of paramount importance, akin to the rituals observed on Janmashtami. Devotees with the idol of Yugal Sarkar (Radha Rani and Krishna) can conduct the Abhishek ceremony using Panchamrit, a sacred mixture comprising milk, curd, ghee, sugar powder, Yamuna/Ganga water, honey, and Tulsi leaves. Similarly, those with the idol of Laddu Gopal ji can also perform the Abhishek with Panchamrit, as Radha Rani and Lord Krishna are revered as a unified entity.

Deity Worship and Offerings

Devotees must adorn the deity idols with exquisite Shringar, and recite sacred mantras such as the Radha Kripa Kataksh Stotam, Radha Gayatri Mantra, and Radha Ashtami Mantra. The ceremony culminates with the performance of aarti. For those without deity idols, visiting the nearest temple or ISKCON temple offers an opportunity to participate in the Maha Abhishek and revel in the festivities.

Bhoga Offerings and Devotional Service

Prepare delectable Bhoga for the deities, with Malpua being a favoured delicacy of Shrimati Radha Rani. Ensure that the offerings are made with love and devotion, accompanied by Tulsi leaves, as Lord Krishna and Radha Rani do not accept any offerings without the sacred Tulsi Patra. This thoughtful gesture underscores the significance of devotion and surrender in the worship of the divine.
