Ram Navami 2025: Ramnavami or Rama Navami is a significant Hindu festival that marks the birth anniversary of Lord Rama, the revered hero of the Ramayana and the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Born to King Dasarath and Queen Kaushalya in Ayodhya, Lord Rama's birth is commemorated annually on the ninth day of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the Hindu month of Chaitra. This festival marks the culmination of the nine-day Chaitra Navratri celebrations in North India. Hindus observe Ram Navami with great fervour, honouring Lord Rama's life and teachings which embody righteousness, courage and devotion. This Year, Shri Ram Navami will be observed by devotees on 6th April 2025.

Ram Navami 2025: Significance
Hindu legends state that Sage Vashistha advised King Dasharath to perform the Puthra Kameshti Yagna. This sacred ritual would fulfil the King's desire for a child. King Dasharath had three wives but no children. After completing the ritual the King received a divine bowl of Kheer. He shared it with his three wives and all of them conceived children.
Queen Kausalya gave birth to Lord Rama on the ninth day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra. Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Rama to eradicate evil and establish righteousness. He protected his devotees from demons and misfortune. The people of Ayodhya celebrated Lord Rama's birthday with great enthusiasm and joy and hence, this marked the onset of Ram Navami.
Ram Navami is a significant festival that reminds us of the triumph of good over evil and the power of devotion. Lord Rama's victory over Ravana and other demons established him as a symbol of righteousness. He inspires devotees to learn from his virtues and overcome obstacles in their own lives.
Ram Navami 2025: Puja Vidhi
After taking a sacred bath and cleaning their home and puja altar, devotees must begin Ram Navami Puja by offering prayers to Lord Ganesha. Thereafter, it is advised to meditate upon Lord Ram to seek his blessings.
Thereafter, devotees must perform Avahanam for Lord Ram, calling upon his divine energy to grace the puja altar. Place a photo or idol of Lord Rama on a yellow-covered wooden platform and light a ghee lamp and dhoop. Offer the sacred Ganga Jal at the feet of Lord Ram, followed by Arghya, Mauli (thread), Janeu, Chandan, Kumkum, Haldi, Tulsi Leaves and Panchamrit.
Devotees can additionally offer Coconut, Supari, Paan, Fruits and Dakshina. Make sure to offer prayers to Mata Sita, Shri Lakshman and Lord Hanuman as well. After making these sacred offerings, the devotees must recite Vishnu Sahastranamam and conclude the puja rituals by performing Shri Ram’s aarti.
