Sakat Chauth 2024: Among the two auspicious Chaturthi Thithis is Sakat Chauth. The Hindu calendar has two Chaturthi Thithis in a month: Sakat Chauth, which falls after Amavasya during the Krishna Paksha, and Vinayak Chaturthi, also known as Sankashti Chaturthi, which falls after the Shukla Paksha. While there is a fast on every Chaturthi, Sakat Chauth, which falls in the months of Magha and Pausha, is considered to be the most significant Chaturthi for keeping a fast. This year, the Sakat Chauth vrat is being observed on 29th January 2024.

Sakat Chaturthi 2024: Significance Of This Sacred Fast
For devotees, Sakat Chauth is a highly auspicious day. The fast is observed strictly, especially in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. The goal of the fast is to obtain the blessings of Lord Ganesha. Another name for Lord Ganesha is "Vighnaharta," which means, inexactly, "the remover of all obstacles." Therefore, the purpose of the fast is to worship Lord Ganesha to remove all barriers from life.
Devotees who carry out the fast and puja with sincerity are believed to be able to get the choicest blessings of Lord Ganpati. Couples experiencing difficulties during childbirth may also uphold a fast on this day and offer prayers to Lord Ganesha, as this is said to have a positive effect on their situation.
