Sankashti Chaturthi September 2025: Significance
Lord Ganesha, revered as Vighnaharta, removes obstacles, bringing solace to devotees. Sankashti Chaturthi, a special day dedicated to him, falls on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha each month. By observing the sacred Sankashti Chaturthi Vrat, devotees can get relieved of sins and attain Svananda Loka, Ganesha's abode. This sacred day promises to dispel difficulties and hurdles, bestowing health, wealth and prosperity upon devotees.

Sankashti Chaturthi September 2025: Rituals
Devotees fervently worship Lord Ganesha on Sankashti Chaturthi. They rise early, spend the day doing puja, and many devotees additionally fast and eat only fruits. Durva grass and fresh flowers are used to adorn the idol of Lord Ganesha. Additionally, ghee deepak and incense sticks are also lighted to venerate Ganpati Bappa.
Sankashti puja is performed in the evening, and a special Naivedya or Bhog is prepared that includes Lord Ganesha's favourite sweet dish, Modak, which is made with coconut and jaggery. Devotees receive the prasad after Ganesha Aarti is performed. Devotees observe a fast from morning till evening. After the puja is finished, devotees see the moon and offer sacrifices to the moon deity, marking the end of the fast.

Depending on one's ability and preference, one can observe the fast entirely or partially. The devotees observing this vrat can consume peanuts, potatoes and sabudana khichdi in addition to fruits, vegetables, and roots. For people who are unable to fast completely, milk and fruits are also permitted.
