When leaving the worship area take a few steps backward. This ensures Shani Dev does not see your back. Seeing a devotee's back is believed to displease the deity. By moving backward you show respect and reverence for Shani Dev. This simple gesture helps maintain a positive connection with the deity.
2. Offer Oil To Shani Dev Only Using Iron Vessel: When offering oil to Shani Dev it's crucial to choose the right utensils. Iron utensils are the preferred choice. Avoid using copper utensils as copper is associated with the Sun God. Shani Dev and the Sun God are sworn enemies. Using copper utensils may be seen as disrespectful to Shani Dev. By using iron utensils you show respect and reverence for the deity. This simple choice can make a big difference in your worship.
3. Do Not Make Eye Contact With Shani Dev: When visiting the temple to worship Shani Dev follow specific guidelines. Avoid direct eye contact with the deity during worship. Instead, keep your eyes closed or focus on his feet. Standing directly in front of the idol is also discouraged. 4. Choose To Wear Specific Colours While Worship: While worshipping Shani Dev be mindful of the colours you wear. Avoid wearing red clothing during the puja as it's considered inauspicious. Instead, opt for Shani Dev's favourite colours such as blue and black. These colours are believed to please the deity and create a positive atmosphere for worship.
5. Stand In Appropriate Direction: When worshipping Shani Dev pay attention to the direction you face. Unlike general practice where people worship facing east Shani Dev is revered as the lord of the west. Therefore face west while worshipping him. This direction is believed to be auspicious for seeking Shani Dev's blessings. By facing west you demonstrate respect for the deity's association with this direction. Make a conscious effort to face the correct direction during worship.
