In Hinduism, Shardiya Navratri holds profound significance, commemorating Goddess Durga's victory over Mahishasura, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. This nine-day festival marks the beginning of autumn, renewal, and spiritual growth. Navratri represents the inner struggle between virtue and vice, encouraging devotees to introspect and seek divine guidance. The festivities honour the nine forms of Durga, each embodying a distinct aspect of feminine power. This celebration also marks the convergence of spiritual and material pursuits, seeking balance and harmony in life.

During Shardiya Navratri, devotees observe rigorous rituals and practices. Fasting (Upavas) or partial fasting (Phalahar) is common, along with the recitation of Durga Saptashati and other sacred mantras. Idol worship, offerings to Goddess Durga, and performance of Garba and Dandiya Raas (traditional dances) are integral to the festivities. Each day is dedicated to a specific form of Durga, with corresponding rituals and puja. The final day, Vijayadashami marks the culmination of Navratri, with devotees immersing idols and seeking blessings for new beginnings. This auspicious day also marks the commencement of Diwali preparations, further emphasising the triumph of light over darkness.
