- The Reasi area of Jammu and Kashmir is home to the well-known cave temple Shiv Khori, which has a long history spanning several centuries. Hindu legends suggest that Lord Shiva himself founded this sacred shrine. Since ancient times, the area around Shiv Khori has been revered for its spiritual importance. 

- In the 20th century, Buta Malik, a shepherd, made the discovery of the cave. Every year, lakhs of devotees visit this pilgrimage site to offer prayers to Lord Shiva. Puja performed here is said to bring blessings and good fortune. 

- The 150-meter-long cave contains a naturally manifested (Swayambhu) lingam, which is a Hindu deity representing Lord Shiva. There is a sense of calm and tranquillity across the whole region that surrounds the cave. Hindus seeking spiritual enlightenment consider Shiv Khori to be a significant pilgrimage place because of its natural beauty and rich historical importance.

- This holy site's major draw for travellers is the Cave Shrine of Shiv Khori. The Reasi area of Jammu & Kashmir is home to the cave, which is around 140 miles away from Jammu. Devotees from all over India flock to the temple to make prayers and seek blessings. The cave's entrance is small, and stairs descend into the earth's interior.

- It is believed that Lord Shiva spent countless years in meditation within the cave in the past. He made a little stream at this period, and it still runs through the centre of the cave. Travellers from all across India flock to this stream's sacred waters to bathe because it is thought to have therapeutic qualities.

- Another well-known myth connected to Shiv Khori centres on the malevolent demon Bhasmasura, who became unstoppable after receiving a blessing from Lord Shiva. But when he became extremely powerful and began to threaten other gods, they begged Lord Vishnu to assist them in vanquishing him. Bhasmasura was deceived into executing a series of dance steps by Lord Vishnu, who was disguised as the stunning Mohini. Ultimately, Bhasmasura touched his own head with his palm, causing him to be reduced to ashes.
