For believers, the Hanuman Jayanti celebration starts a 41-day spiritual journey on Chaitra Purnima. 'Hanuman Deeksha' is the period of time when devotees do daily devotion, repeat Hanuman mantras, and observe certain spiritual rituals. On the last day of the 41-day Deeksha, several Hanuman temples in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana host lavish celebrations. 'Sundar Kand', a revered Ramayan recital, is one of the centrepieces of these festivities. Chants of the "Hanuman Chalisa" and other potent Hanuman mantras, which laud the deity's strength and devotion, fill the temples.

Devotees rise early on this day and begin their day with a holy bath. Then they burn a diya with desi ghee and set the idol of Lord Hanuman on an altar. Lord Hanuman receives offerings of sweets, flowers, garland, pan, and bhog prasad. One chants the Hanuman Chalisa. Subsequently, the devotees get the prasad. It is thought that those who observe Telugu Hanuman Jayanti with fervour would be endowed with strength, vitality, and power.
