Telugu Hanuman Jayanti 2025: Lord Hanuman is a cherished emblem of devotion to Lord Rama, and his presence is said to be felt whenever Rama's name is spoken. Hanuman Jayanti, which commemorates his birth, is held twice yearly. However, according to the Puranas, the original Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated in the month of Vaisakha rather than Chaitra, where Hanumad Vijayotsavam occurs after Sri Rama Navami. Some scholars say that the celebration of Hanuman Jayanti in Vaisakha is the real Hanuman Jayanti.

The Parashara Samhita, a revered text dedicated to Lord Hanuman suggests that Hanuman Jayanti takes place on the Dashami day during Purvabhadra Nakshatra in Vaisakha, which is usually late May or early June. This goes against the common idea of celebrating Hanuman Jayanti twice a year. Instead, the text suggests celebrating it just once a year in late May.

This year, Telugu Hanuman Jayanti is being celebrated on 22nd May 2025. Check out all the significant details regarding the date, timings, significance and rituals to worship Lord Hanuman on this day below:

Telugu Hanuman Jayanti 2025: Significance

The Sundarakanda of the Ramayana states that Lord Hanuman went on a quest to find Devi Sita after she was abducted by Ravana. After a long search, he found her in the Ashoka forest on a Tuesday morning, the full moon day of the Chitra star, in the month of Chaitra. Upon locating Sita, Hanuman ruined the Ashoka forest and defeated Ravana's soldiers. Afterwards, Ravana's army burned Hanuman's tail. Thereafter, Lord Hanuman used his tail to burn half of Lanka.

To celebrate Hanuman's victory over the army of Ravana, the full moon day of Chaitra Shuddha is celebrated as Lord Hanuman's victory. However, there is a widespread misconception that it is Hanuman Jayanti. Most people don't know that Hanuman Jayanti is a different celebration which usually occurs in April each year, celebrating Hanuman's valour and victory in Lanka.
