Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam: 5 Reasons To Visit Tirupati Balaji

1. Real Hair On The Lord Venkateswara Idol - The idol's hair is as real as it gets - it's silky, sleek,  and free of tangles! It is believed that Lord Balaji lost his hair on Earth due to a mishap. The Gandharva princess Neela Devi chopped off a section of her lustrous hair, gave it to the Lord, and asked him to place it atop his head. Balaji took the offering and said that anyone who comes to his temple and offers a lock of hair shall be blessed. Thus started the custom of devotees slicing off their hair at the temple and presenting the severed mane as a gift.

2. The Light That Has Always Been Burning - In the sanctum sanctorum, lit earthen lamps are positioned in front of the idol. Their flames have been flashing for an eternity and never go out. The flame that never goes out may be the best analogy for the unwavering faith of a fervent believer in their God.

3. Richest Temple In India - The richest temple in India is Tirupati Temple, which is one of its amazing facts! Huge amounts of money, jewellery, gold, property deeds, and even Demat shared transfers are donated by the devotees. Offerings to the shrine total about INR 22 million every day.

4. Magnificent Idol Of Lord Tirupati - The deity appears to be standing in the centre of the sanctum sanctorum when viewed from the exterior of the temple. It is actually situated on the Garba Gudi's right side. This is a small but significant feature that enhances the idol's beauty. The idol's unusual placement astounds both enthusiasts and outsiders.

5. Abode Of Goddess Lakshmi - Balaji's heart still harbours the presence of goddess Lakshmi. Every Thursday during Nija Roop Darshanam, the major idol at Tirupati Balaji is adorned with a white wooden covering, as per the priests. According to the priests, the goddess impression is still visible when the plaster is removed.
