Utpanna Ekadashi 2024: Vrat Katha
According to Hindu legends, Utpanna Ekadashi commemorates the birth of Maa Ekadashi, who saved Lord Vishnu from the demon Mura. In the Satyuga era, Mura defeated Indra and took control of heaven, prompting the gods to seek Lord Shiva's help. Lord Shiva advised them to approach Lord Vishnu, who eventually engaged in a ten-year battle with Mura.
As the battle raged on, Lord Vishnu retreated to Badrikashram, where he fell asleep in a cave called Hemvati. Mura attacked Lord Vishnu, but a divine woman emerged from Lord Vishnu's body and defeated the demon. Lord Vishnu was pleased and named the woman Utpanna Ekadashi, declaring that she would be worshipped by people.
Utpanna Ekadashi holds great significance in Hindu astrology. It is believed that observing a fast on this day with good intentions and a pure mind can help individuals atone for past mistakes. Devotees who wish to observe Ekadashi fasts are advised to start with Utpanna Ekadashi.
