Devotees must avoid moonsighting from 10:16 AM to 09:26 PM. On 23rd December, avoid moonsighting from 12:12 PM to 08:27 PM.

Vighneshvara Vinayaka Chaturthi 2025: Significance

Vighneshwara Vinayaka Chaturthi is dedicated to Lord Ganesha in his form as 'Vighneshwara', the remover of all obstacles and impediments. This date holds special significance because worshipping Lord Ganesha along with the Sun God during the Pausha month is believed to bestow mental peace, intellect, and prosperity upon the devotee. Devotees observe a fast on this day and offer durva grass, modak, and red sandalwood paste to Lord Ganesha during the midday or Madhyahna Muhurat. It is believed that sincere worship on this auspicious day removes even the most difficult obstacles in life and paves the way to success.

Vighneshvara Chaturthi 2025: Rituals

- On this day, devotees take a bath early in the morning, wear red or yellow clothes, and take a vow to observe the fast.

- The main time for the puja is at midday, when the idol of Lord Ganesha is placed on a platform. Devotees apply red sandalwood paste on Lord Ganpati.

- Afterwards, 21 blades of Durva grass, red flowers, and modak or laddus are offered to Ganpati Bappa.

- Incense and lamps are lit, and an aarti is performed while chanting the mantra 'Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha'.

- In this fast, only fruits are consumed after the midday puja, and the fast is considered complete only after sighting the moon.
