The legends associated with Lord Vishwakarma are mentioned in old Hindu texts, such as the Rig Veda, where he is described as an atomic carpenter and recognised as the Sthapatya Veda. Vishwakarma is said to have created himself when there was nothing at all, so he is the supreme creator and designer of the universe. Being identified with Lord Shiva and related to Diwali festivities further confirms his stature. By conducting Vishwakarma Puja, worshipers pray for success in their work, entrepreneurship and new projects because they feel that this will bring them success and prosperity.
