Hindu rituals encompass multiple concepts about worship, many of which we still adhere to now. To ring the bell at the temple is one of these customs. Every Hindu temple has a bell, and every time we visit and leave the temple, we certainly ring the bell. However, did you know that ringing the bell before leaving the temple is not advised? Let us check out the beliefs regarding this custom as per Hinduism.
Significance Of Temple Bells In Hinduism
Regarding the bell that is housed in the temple, the religious doctrine holds that the sound of a bell is what rang at the beginning of creation. In addition, it's also claimed that the Omkar Mantra might be fully pronounced by ringing the bell. This ritual is believed to awaken the idols' consciousness and enhance the effect of devotion.
Why We Should Not Ring The Bell While Leaving The Temple?
According to the Puranas, when we visit the temple, all kinds of ideas arise in our minds, including bad thoughts. Which, after entering the temple, are annihilated as soon as the bell rings. The heavenly sound of the conch, bell, and bell expels all bad energy and ideas from the body.

Then, as we have darshan of the gods and goddesses in the temple, good energy and thoughts begin to flow through our minds. After this, we return after singing devotional songs with love and ring the bell, which confuses and destroys all of the great energy. As a result, upon leaving the temple, the bell should not be rung in order to maintain positive energy.

Why To Ring The Bell Only At The Time Of Entering The Temple?
Since ancient times, worship has been valued in Sanatan Dharma. Religious beliefs hold that as we ring the bell as we approach the temple, the ringing of the bell is said to dispel all of the bad energy in our bodies and simultaneously open the doors to happiness and wealth for everyone. It's also stated that God adores the sound of the bell. By ringing the bell, worshippers ask God for permission to enter the temple, draw the Gods' and Goddesses' attention to themselves, and then offer their adoration. The temple and the surrounding area are purified as a result of the bell's destruction of all pathogenic organisms in the body and the surrounding area.
