Sawan or Shravan is the fifth month in the Hindu Calendar dedicated to Lord Shiva. During this period, devotees engage in a variety of rites and activities to seek blessings and spiritual progress. This year, Sawan is scheduled to begin on 22nd July 2024.
It is believed that certain things might not be presented to Lord Shiva as it displeases him. While worshipping Lord Shiva, the devotees must ensure to not include the list of items disliked by Bholenath. Let us check out the list of top 7 things which devotees must not use for the worship of Lord Shiva.
Sawan 2024: 7 Things You Must Never Offer To Lord Shiva
1. Tulsi Leaves - Tulsi leaves should not be used during Lord Shiva worship since they are considered a sin. According to legend, Lord Shiva is Maa Tulsi's elder brother, while Lord Vishnu is her husband. As a result, you should only utilise Tulsi leaves to honour Lord Vishnu.
2. Kumkum Or Sindoor - You should worship Bholenath with sandalwood rather than Kumkum or Sindoor since offering him vermillion is considered disrespectful.
3. Conch Shells - Owing to the origins of conch shells, they cannot be used to provide water to Shivlings or during Lord Shiva worship. The deities were upset by the demon Shankhachud's misdeeds. Then, at Lord Vishnu's request, Lord Shiva murdered him with his trident, after which his body was burnt and the conch shell emerged from the ashes. This is why conch shells and their water are not utilised in Lord Shiva's worship.
