The 10th season of the Pro Kabaddi League is underway in India and the craze for the home-grown sport is immense in the country as it is often seen getting played in small villages as well as in big towns and cities.

Amid the remarkable Kabaddi action at the domestic level, a concerning incident took place during a local tournament in Andhra Pradesh.

A clash broke out between two groups of Kabaddi players during a match of the 'Adudam Andhra' tournament in Nandyal as the players were seen fighting with chairs and other things.

The local Kabaddi tournament commenced on 26th December 2023 and is scheduled to run till 10th February 2024.

The tournament, which is designed to have five different stages, faces massive setbacks as the lack of discipline and management were seen as the situation during the contest between both teams turned into a chaotic fighting battleground.

"During the 'Adudam Andhra' event, a Kabaddi match took place between Chetan Kota and Nagataur, which resulted in Nagataur's defeat by five points. However, after the match, tension flared up leading to personal clashes between the two players," Nandikotkur MPDO Sobharani said.

The game of Kabaddi has seen rapid growth in India since the inception of the Pro Kabaddi League in 2014 as it continues to grow with the administrators taking further steps to carry the momentum forward.

The KBD Juniors segment was added to spread the craze awareness for the game at the grassroots levels, especially in schools.

Indian Kabaddi recently achieved a new high as the star raider Pawan Kumar Sehrawat was honored with the Arjuna Award.

Sehrawat was one of 26 athletes, who were conferred the Arjuna Award by the Sports Ministry of India for achieving excellence in the field of sports.

Sehrawat led India to their eighth gold medal in the men's kabaddi event at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, last year. The skipper led from the front with 42 points in six matches.
