India won their second silver in Rowing event after a spectacular display of strength and teamwork  with a timing of 05:43.01 in the Men's Coxed Eight event at Asian Games 2023. India now has five medals (Three Silver, Two Bronze) in total in the prestigious event.

Earlier, Babulal Yadav and Lekh Ram have clinched Bronze in the Men's Coxless Pair Rowing event after clocking a time of 6:50:41.

After India’s success in the team event of 10m Air-Rifle, Ramita Jindal secured a Bronze medal in the 10m Air Rifle Women's (Individual)event. This is India’s second medal in the Shooting event.

Indian rowers Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh clinched a silver medal in the men's lightweight doubles sculls event at the Asian Games 2023, adding to India's medal tally, their first in rowing. Their impressive performance at the Fuyang Water Sports Centre in Hangzhou earned them this coveted honour.

Clocking a time of 6:28.18s, Arjun and Arvind narrowly missed the gold medal, which was secured by China's Junjie Fan and Man Sun with a time of 6:23.16s. The bronze medal went to the Uzbekistan pair of Shakhzod Nurmatov and Sobirjon Safaroliyev.

Earlier in the day, in the women's 10m Air Rifle team event, the trio of Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ashi Chouksey secured a silver medal, marking India's first medal at the prestigious event. Their exceptional performance in the Women's 10-metre Air Rifle category earned them a remarkable score of 1886. Ramita finished with 631.9, Mehuli with 630.8, and Ashi with 623.3 points.

The Indian contingent will be in action in the multiple events today at the Asian Games 2023 after the marquee tournament officially kicked off with a remarkable opening ceremony at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium on Saturday.

India's men's volleyball team will be in action against Cambodia from 4:30 pm onwards while India's men's football team will take on China from 5 pm onwards.

India’s boxing champion Nikhat Zareen will also start her debut Asian Games campaign with a women’s 50kg round of 32 bout against Vietnam’s Thi Tam Nguyen.

She defeated the same opponent in a hard-fought battle to become the world champion in March this year.

The Indian women’s cricket team can also confirm a medal if they beat Bangladesh in the semi-finals. Both the men’s and women’s football teams are also in action in group matches.

India will aim to improve their medal tally in this year's edition of the Asian Games. The country's best performance at the Asian Games happened in 2018 when the contingent won 70 medals; 16 gold, 23 silver, and 31 bronze.
