India continued to shine at the Asian Games 2023 on September 28th, racking up medals across various disciplines. Let's take a closer look at the highlights of India's performance on this memorable day.
Shooting Glory: Gold Rush Continues
India's shooting contingent once again proved their dominance in the sport by clinching a gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol team event. The trio of Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema, and Shiva Narwal displayed exceptional marksmanship, securing the top spot on the podium.

Wushu Silver: Naorem Roshibina Devi Shines
Naorem Roshibina Devi secured the women's 60kg silver medal in wushu after a closely contested bout, narrowly losing to her Vietnamese opponent in the final. This achievement marked an improvement from her bronze finish at the 2018 Asian Games.

Hockey Heroics: Men's Team Tops Pool A
India's men's hockey team continued their impressive run at the Games by defeating reigning champions Japan, securing the top spot in Pool A. In a thrilling 4-2 victory, Abhishek bagged the brace for the Men in Blue.

Tennis Triumph: Men's Doubles Shine
Indian tennis duo Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni stormed into the men's doubles final, guaranteeing India a silver medal. Additionally, Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale secured a mixed doubles medal with a QF win.
Boxing Brilliance: Nishant Dev Advances
World championship bronze medallist, Nishant Dev delivered a spectacular performance by knocking out Vietnam's Phuoc Tung Bui in just one minute and 38 seconds during the men's 71 kg round of 16 boxing bout. Jaismine Lamboria advanced to the QFs after her win in the women's 60kg round of 16 boxing match against Hadeel Ghazwan.
Squash Success: Teams Advance to Semifinals
India's squash teams made their mark by advancing to the semifinals. The Indian contingent, both Men and Women guaranteed at least two medals in squash. Indian Women lost to Malaysia, while Indian Men’s team lost to Pakistan in their last Pool tie to finish second in their respective groups.
Swimming Records: Mixed Results
Indian swimmers set records in the women's 4x200m freestyle relay by breaking the national record twice in one day. Despite finishing last in the final, their achievement was a national success.
Football Heartbreak: Men's Team Ousted
In football, the Indian men's team faced a tough challenge against Saudi Arabia in the round of 16. Despite putting up a spirited fight, they fell short, losing 2-0. This marked the end of their journey at the Games.
Table Tennis
Sharath Kamal/Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Sutirtha Mukherjee/Ayhika Mukherjee secured a convincing victory in the men's doubles round of 32. Manika qualified for the Pre-QF round as well. Indian women's doubles pair of Sreeja Akula/Diya Chitale and Sutirtha Mukherjee/Ayhika Mukherjee advanced to Pre-QFs after winning their respective matches.
Badminton
Indian shuttlers also made their presence felt at the Asian Games. The PV Sindhu-led Indian women's badminton teams reached the quarterfinals.
Other Sports
Apart from this India also participated in Golf, Bridge, Artistic Gymnastics and Track Cycling. Pranati Nayak competed in the vault final and finished eighth. David Beckham Elkatohchoongo finished 8th in the Men's sprint.
In Golf, after the opening round Aditi Ashok is currently sharing the second position. As for the Indian women's golf team, they hold the fifth rank after the initial round. After completing eight rounds, the Indian men's bridge team currently holds the second position in the rankings.
