Indian shooters Palak and Esha Singh clinched the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the women's 10m air pistol individual final at the Asian Games 2023. 17-year-old Palak shattered the Asian Games record with a score of 242.1. Impressively, the duo had earlier contributed to India's silver medal win in the women's 10m air pistol team event.

The Indian shooting team of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Suresh Kusale, and Akhil Sheoran secured the gold medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions team event. Notably, this victory was accompanied by breaking the world record, previously held by the United States of America, with a remarkable 1769 points.

Indian shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar further added to the medal tally by securing a silver medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions final with a score of 459.7.

This remarkable performance by Indian shooters elevated India's medal tally at Hangzhou to a total of 18 medals, surpassing the previous record of 14 medals achieved at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha.
Adding to India's glory, Kiran Baliyan secured a bronze medal in the women's shot put final, clinching India’s first medal in this edition of Asian Games.
The day brought mixed results in tennis and squash. Indian men's doubles pair Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni settled for a silver medal, while the Indian women's squash team, featuring Tanvi Khanna, Joshana Chinappa, and Anahat Singh, had to settle for bronze after facing defeat against Hong Kong in the semi-final.

In tennis, India witnessed a victory in the mixed doubles semi-final as Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale emerged triumphant with a scoreline of 6-1, 3-6, 10-4 against Chinese Taipei's Yu-hsiou Hsu and Hao-ching Chang. This win guarantees at least a silver medal for India in this event.
On the squash court, the Indian men's team secured a place in the final after defeating Malaysia, setting up a mouth-watering showdown with Pakistan.
The day also saw success in boxing, where two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen secured a swift victory against Jordan's Hanan Nassar in the women's 50kg quarter-final bout.
Additionally, the Indian men's badminton team, featuring Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, and Mithun Manjunath, claimed a 3-0 win against Nepal in the quarter-final tie.
In hockey, the Indian women's hockey team continued their dominance, registering a commanding 6-0 victory over Malaysia in their second women's hockey Pool A encounter.
Table tennis ace Manika Batra impressed by securing a spot in the women's singles quarter-final, making her the first Indian singles player to reach this stage at the Asian Games. Indian pairs in table tennis and boxer Parveen Hooda also contributed to the day's successes.
Athletics witnessed notable achievements as well, with Aishwarya Mishra and Muhammed Ajmal advancing to the finals in their respective events.
However, the PV-Sindhu lead Indian women's badminton team faced disappointment in the quarter-final, while Indian table tennis players Sharath Kamal and Sathiyan Gnansekaran had a disappointing outing in the individual, as well as doubles event.
The action will continue in Golf, Bridge, and Chess to the subsequent days.
