Asian Games 2023 Highlights, Day 6: India's Medal Tally Reaches 33 Post Kiran Baliyan's Bronze In Athletics

India Win Bronze!

Kiran Baliyan won bronze after her 17.36m effort in the Women's Shot Put. This is India's first medal in the athletics. 

Manpreet Kour finished at the fifth place in the final standings.

Indian Women's 5x5 team beats Mongolia 68-62 to book a place in the Quarter-Finals.

In the Women's Shot Put final, after five throws Kiran Baliyan is currently holding the third position, while Manpreet Kaur is in fifth place.

Kiran achieved a distance of 17.36 meters in her third throw, whereas Manpreet's first throw reached 16.25 meters. With one throw remaining for each competitor, it's game on.

India Men's Team beat the defending champions Malaysia 2-0 to book a spot in the Final against Pakistan.

In the Men's 400m Heats, India's Muhammad Ajmal Variyathodi secured his spot in the final by finishing second in Heat 2 with an impressive time of 45.76.

Muhammad Anas Yahiya missed out narrowly.

In the Round 1 of Women's Team event, India secured a convincing victory against the Philippines with a score of 3.5 - 0.5.

D Harika, R Vaishali, and Savitha Baskar emerged victorious in their respective matches, while Vantika Agarwal played to a draw against Jan Fronda.

In the Round 1 of Men's Team event, India emerged victorious against Mongolia with a score of 3.5 - 0.5.

R Praggnanandhaa, Vidit Gujarathi, and Arun Erigaisi secured wins in their matches, while Gukesh D played to a draw against Sumiya Bilguun.

India Women's team beat Malaysia comprehensively in the Pool A match. 

In the Men's Team Squash semifinal, India takes the lead against Malaysia with a score of 1-0.

Abhay Singh secured a victory for India by defeating Malaysia's Muhammad Bin Bahtiar with a score of 3-1 (11-3, 12-10, 9-11, 11-6).

In the Men's Team Quarterfinals, Kidambi Srikanth continued India's winning streak in Match 2, triumphing over Sunil Joshi with a score of 2-0 (21-4, 21-13).

In the first match, Lakshya Sen set the tone by swiftly defeating Nepal's Prince Dahal 2-0 (21-5, 21-8)

India needs one more win to go through to the semis.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran goes down against World no. 2 Chiquin Wang in straight games by 4-0 games in the Men’s Singles R16 match.

Bronze medal win for the women's squash team consisting of Dipika Pallikal, Joshna Chinappa, Anahat Singh and Tanvi.

In a disappointing turn of events, India's badminton women's team faced a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Thailand in the quarter-finals. The Indian team, comprising star player PV Sindhu along with Treesa-Gayatri and Ashmita Chaliha, was unable to secure victories in their respective matches.
