Neeraj Chopra successfully defended his Asian Games title as he bagged a Gold Medal in the men's javelin throw event at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou on Wednesday.
India took the top two podium finishes as Kishore Kumar Jena ended up winning silver, giving the country the joy of celebrating the achievements of both heroes.
Neeraj claimed the victory in the event with his best throw of 88.88m that came in his fourth attempt while Kishore recorded his best throw of 87.54m, giving the former a fair amount of fight for the top spot.

India's both participants had to face issues during the event as Neeraj's first throw wasn't recorded due to technical failure at the venue.
On the other hand, Kishore Jena's second throw was wrongly called foul before it was given the white flag. However, both the stars overcame the early setbacks to finish on the podium.
Kishore was leading the much-awaited final at the halfway mark, notching up his personal best. The India duo celebrated Kishore's remarkable feat as they were cheering for each other from the side.
However, Neeraj didn't take long to claim the top spot again as he registered a massive throw of 88.88m that turned out to be his season best.
Neeraj had won the gold medal in Jakarta back in 2018 as he became the star who has won everything at the age of just 25.
He is currently the Olympic gold medallist and the World Athletics champion, while he also won the Diamond League last year. Chopra came second in the 2023 Diamond League final in Eugene.

Chopra, who qualified with a massive 88.77m throw, clocked a remarkable 88.17m throw in the main event.
With the achievement, he became the second Indian after former shooter Abhinav Bindra to win the Olympic gold medal and the World Championships honor at the same time.
