The UEFA Champions League is all set to return for another blockbuster season, with Europe's biggest clubs beginning their quest for continental glory. The 2026/27 edition gets underway on September 8, with 36 teams competing in the league phase under the revamped format.

England has five representatives in the competition this season, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa all aiming to make a deep run.

Arsenal will be looking to break the deadlock after their heartbreak in last season's final, while Manchester United return to the Champions League after last featuring in the competition in 2023-24. However, the Red Devils were knocked out in the group stages.

Manchester United, meanwhile, begin their Champions League campaign at home against Azerbaijan's Sabah on September 10. The Red Devils will then travel to face Atletico Madrid before taking on Bayern Munich, Roma and Sporting CP during the league phase.

The other English clubs will also face tough schedules. Liverpool open their quest for glory against Atletico Madrid at Anfield, Manchester City travel to Porto, while Aston Villa begin away against Club Brugge.

With five English clubs taking part in the 2026-27 season, fans will have plenty of English clubs Champions League matches to follow throughout the campaign.

The home meeting with Real Madrid stands out as one of Arsenal's biggest fixtures of the league phase, while the trip to Bayern Munich will provide another major test.

All five English clubs will play eight league-phase matches before the competition moves into the knockout stages.

UCL Knockout Stage Dates

The knockout phase play-offs are scheduled for February 16/17 and 23/24, 2027. The Round of 16 will follow on March 9/10 and 16/17, with the quarter-finals scheduled for April 6/7 and 13/14.

The semi-finals will take place on April 27/28 and May 4/5, while the 2026/27 Champions League final is scheduled for June 5 at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid.
