Conor McGregor, the popular Mixed Martial Arts star, made a massive announcement as he confirmed to be facing off against World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fighter Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition match in India.

McGregor did not reveal the dates for this exhibition match, but said that the bout will pave the way for his “return to the Octagon”.

He also turned down all the speculations that he would fight Georgian-Spanish mixed martial artist Ilia Topuria.

“The rumours of a bout with Topuria are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon,” he posted in a tweet on Tuesday.

McGregor, who is a two-weight UFC champion, has been out of action in the UFC since he suffered a broken leg in a TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier in 2021.

The 36-year-old withdrew from the fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June due to an injured foot.

Interestingly, it’s India, a country emerging as a place heavily enthusiastic about boxing and MMA, that’s providing the exciting backdrop for this big event.

While making the huge announcement, McGregor revealed that the fight was expected to take place in India with the Ambani family as the promoter. With the backing of the Ambani Family, which holds a reputation for pulling off grand, high-level events in the country, this isn’t just going to be an ordinary sports showcase.

Notably, McGregor met boxing great Floyd "Money" Mayweather in 2017 in a boxing exhibition.

McGregor has a reputation as one of combat sports’ leading figures. He was the first-ever in UFC to hold dual championship titles

With his latest revelation, McGregor sets the stage for his eagerly anticipated comeback to the UFC. His monumental fanbase is excited to see him back in action in the Octagon.

The upcoming exhibition match is expected to script a new chapter and yet another thrilling saga in his illustrious career.

The world will surely be holding its breath as all eyes tune in for the highly-anticipated showdown between McGregor and Paul.
