Copa America 2024: The Copa America is all set to kick off on June 21 in the USA with the defending champions Argentina taking on Canada in a Group A fixture.
A total of 16 teams, 10 from CONMEBOL and six from CONCACAF will battle it out in the 48th edition of the marquee tournament with 32 games will be contested in 14 cities.
The hosts USA are placed in Group C and will kick off their campaign against Bolivia on June 24.
The previous edition of the Copa America was played in 2021 where Argentina defeated Brazil 1-0 in the final to clinch the title.
With the win at the famous Maracana Stadium, the La Albiceleste lifted their first trophy since 1993. That was also Lionel Messi’s first major international trophy before he won the FIFA World Cup the following year.
Copa America 2024 Format
16 teams are divided into four groups each of four teams. Each team will play each of the other three teams in their group once.
The top two teams from every group will then make it to the Knockout stage.
The quarter-finals will be followed by the semi-finals and then the final.
