Copa Del Rey: Real Madrid, just a few days after a clinical performance against old rivals FC Barcelona, ended up on the losing side against Atletico Madrid on Thursday.
Atletico ended up winning the 'Madrid Derby' in extra time, beating Real 4-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey.
On the other hand, Barcelona, who missed out on the Super Cup title with a humiliating 0-3 defeat against Los Blancos, have also reached quarters with a 3-1 win over Unionistas de Salamanca.

Antoine Griezmann and Rodrigo Riquelme scored goals for the home side after the match ended in a 2-2 draw in regulation 90 minutes to send Atletico to the last eight. This win has come for Diego Simeone's side less than a week after they lost against Madrid in the semifinals of the Spanish Super Cup.
Atletico continued their brilliant run at home, having already beaten the city rivals in the first league derby of the season in September, which has been Carlo Ancelotti's side's only loss this season.
Atletico is now unbeaten in 25 consecutive matches at the Metropolitano stadium in all competitions, with two draws since they lost 1-0 in Laliga against Barcelona in January 2023.

Defending champions Real Madrid eliminated Atletico in the Copa quarterfinals last season, winning the game 3-1 in extra time at home.
The city rivals will once again face each other on February 4, marking their third meeting in less than a month, in the Laliga at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
On the other hand, Barcelona managed to make it to the next round, thanks to the goals from Ferran Torres, Jules Kounde, and Alejandro Balde.
The Catalans were thrashed by Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final a few days back and they needed something to cheer about and pick up momentum amid heavy talks over manager Xavi Hernandez's future at the club.
Hoping to bounce back from the Super Cup defeat, Xavi shuffled his pack.
The coach rested striker Robert Lewandowski and put youngster Marc Guiu in to lead the line, along with Joao Felix.
The hosts Unionistas de Salamanca provided a dream moment to their 6000-capacity Reina Sofia stadium when they took an early 1-0 lead through Juan Serrano's cross at the back post, allowing the unmarked Gomez to superbly hammer home on the volley.
Torres scored the equaliser off a brilliant through pass from Felix as the Spaniard ran through one-on-one from the halfway line, and kept his cool to slide a finish into the bottom corner.
Kounde put Barcelona ahead with a lightning strike in the 69th minute, after being given too much time and space from 25 yards out.
Balde compensated for his poor marking for the Unionistas' goal by sealing the game for his side with the third goal, a superb solo strike in the 73rd minute.
The left-back roared into the area and lashed home from a tight angle to wrap up the win.
While Real Madrid are out of the competition, Barcelona could face tough opponents like Sevilla, Atletico, Atheltic Bilbao, and Real Sociedad in the next round.
