CWG 2026: Dilip Gavit Wins Gold, Mohammed Basil Takes Silver As India Scripts Historic 1-2 Finish In Men's 100m T47

India continued their impressive run at the Commonwealth Games 2026 by producing a historic one-two finish in the men's 100m T47 para athletics final, as Dilip Mahadu Gavit stormed to the gold medal while Mohammed Basil Morssinganakath claimed silver in Glasgow.

Dilip Gavit delivered a sensational performance to cross the finish line in a Games record and season-best time of 10.71 seconds, comfortably securing India's third gold medal of the Games. His dominant sprint ensured he finished ahead of compatriot Mohammed Basil, who also impressed with a season-best 10.83 seconds to seal the silver medal.

With this historic victory, Dilip Mahadu Gavit became the first Indian male athlete to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal in para athletics.

He is also only the second Indian para athlete overall to claim a Commonwealth Games para athletics gold, following Sharmila Dhankar's triumph in the women's shot put F57 event earlier at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The double podium finish also highlighted India's growing strength in para athletics, with both Gavit and Basil producing season-best performances on one of the biggest stages in Commonwealth sport.
