Daniel Naroditsky Death: American chess grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky, a rising star in the chess world, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 29, leaving the global chess community in shock and despair.

"Daniel was a talented chess player, commentator, and educator, and a cherished member of the chess community, admired and respected by fans and players around the world," his family said in a statement shared by the Charlotte Chess Centre.

No cause of death was given.

"Let us remember Daniel for his passion and love for the game of chess, and for the joy and inspiration he brought to us all every day," the statement further read.

 

A Stanford graduate with a passion for the game, Naroditsky claimed a grandmaster title at the tender age of 18 and a slew of championships under his belt.

The chess fraternity mourned the loss of Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky, with FIDE leading the tributes to his remarkable legacy.

"GM Daniel Naroditsky passed away. He was a talented chess player, commentator, and educator. FIDE extends its deepest condolences to Daniel’s family and loved ones," FIDE wrote on a post on X.

Chess legend Viswanathan Anand mourned the loss of American chess prodigy Naroditsky, who died just weeks before his 30th birthday.

In a moving social media post, the five-time World Champion penned a heartfelt tribute to Naroditsky, praising the late grandmaster's legacy.

“Really shocked at the passing away of GM Daniel Naroditsky. An excellent chess commentator and educator. A genuinely nice person. A life gone too soon. My deepest condolences to his family. The chess world will miss his presence,” Anand wrote on X.

GM Hikaru Nakamura expressed his devastation, calling Naroditsky's passing "a massive loss for the world of chess."

“I'm devastated. This is a massive loss for the world of chess," Nakamura wrote on X.

Indian grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi conveyed his shock and grief, posting a poignant message: “This is absolutely shocking! My deepest condolences.”

Beyond his competitive prowess, Naroditsky was a special figure in the chess community, well-known for his interesting commentary, insightful writing, and online educational range.
