It is just a few short hours until Spain and Argentina meet on the pitch in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final that takes place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. While storms and smoke created problems in the days leading up to the championship match, the latest report has brought relief to both players and attendees of the event.
According to the predictions for Sunday, excellent conditions for playing football await the players, with a sunless sky, low humidity, and flat, cool weather replacing the storms that caused a mess the previous day.
It is expected that the temperature on that day will be pleasant throughout the day, easing the concerns about rain delays and poor visibility.
Earlier in the week, northern New Jersey suffered from massive thunderstorms that led Spain to miss one of its last training sessions, while fire smoke coming from Canada caused air quality problems in the New York-New Jersey region. Nonetheless, the rain was good news for poor visibility, as it cleared the smoke.
With the weather no longer expected to play a major role, the focus shifts entirely to the action on the pitch. Lionel Messi's Argentina are chasing a fourth FIFA World Cup title, while Spain are aiming to lift the trophy for only the second time in their history.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 12:30 AM IST at the iconic MetLife Stadium, which has been transformed into the tournament's showpiece venue.
