- The takeover still requires due diligence, legal procedures and approval from Spain’s High Council for Sports.
Lionel Messi is set to expand his football ownership portfolio after reaching an agreement in principle to acquire Spanish second-tier club CD Eldense.
The Argentina legend is reportedly preparing to take full control of the Alicante-based side, marking another major step in his growing involvement in football beyond his playing career.
Messi Agrees Eldense Takeover
Messi has agreed in principle to acquire full ownership of the shares owned by TH Soluciones Group S.A.S. from Colombia. At the moment, the contract is still pending all legal and contractual issues, including due diligence and approval from the CSD.
Once completed, the acquisition will make it the first time Messi becomes the full owner of a professional football club in Spain. An official announcement is expected after all necessary formalities are observed.
Second Spanish Club Investment
Messi's acquisition of the Spanish club comes just a few months after he acquired the Spanish club, UE Cornellà, in April 2026. While Cornellà plays at the fifth level of the Spanish football league system, the club Eldense presents a huge leap in Muss Alls' ownership ventures.
Messi's interest in football in Spain seems to grow as he plays for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
Eldense Face Challenging Start
Eldense are currently experiencing a difficult beginning to their Segunda Division campaign. The club sit 20th in the standings after collecting only two points from their opening four matches and remain without a league victory.
The club also recently parted ways with manager Claudio Barragán after the slow start, with Josep Ferrando taking charge on an interim basis.
Messi’s Growth In Football World
The possible acquisition of Eldense by Messi highlights Messi’s rising participation in football investments. Having Cornellà in his portfolio, Messi, 39, is progressively establishing himself in the world of the game.
With Messi on board, Eldense could attract global attention and start a new thrilling phase in its existence.
