Paris Olympics 2024 HIGHLIGHTS, 9th August: Wrestler Aman Sehrawat claimed India’s sixth medal at the Paris Olympics after winning his bronze medal repechage bout against Puerto Rican Darian Toi Cruz. India’s track and field events are over with the men’s and women’s 4x400m Relay teams bowing out in the heats earlier in the afternoon, with contrasting performances. Golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar also had forgettable outings in Round 3, to fall well below on the leaderboard.
On Thursday, Neeraj Chopra bagged the silver medal in the men’s javelin throw with the second-best throw of his career at 89.45m. Neeraj finished behind Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem who smashed the Olympic record to bag the gold with a sensational throw of 92.97m. The men’s hockey team also ended their Paris campaign on a high, beating Spain 2-1 for the bronze medal, taking India’s medal tally to five with a few days to spare.

Paris Olympics 2024 Live Updates, 9th August: Athletics
Earlier in the day it was reported that in the men's 4x400 relay round 1, Anas, Ajal, Amoj and Rajesh clocked 3:00.58 (SB) and finished 5th in heat 2. Top three get automatic qualification while in the next 2 fastest get "q". At that time the cutoff for Q was 3:00.08, which the Indians fell short by 0.5 seconds. But turns out, Nigeria who fiished 2nd in Heat 2, were disqualified moving India upto 4th. So the margin by which they missed out on the final further goes down to 0.32 seconds. They just had to finish ahead of Italy.
Must be massively frustrating for the fout athletes who made headlines at the Worlds last year by reaching final.

Paris Olympics 2024 Live Updates, 9th August: Golf
Slightly better finish by both Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar compared to their earlier scores as they each manage par on holes 16, 17, 18. Interestinngly, both of them had struggled on holes 17/18 on the previous two rounds and that is some positive to close their day with. Round 3 is still going for the golfers who started after them but the Indians finish the day on 6 above par Aditi and 7 above par. They are still however quite low on the leaderboard ahead of the final round on Saturday.

Paris Olympics 2024 Live Updates, 9th August: Golf
The slide seems to be never ending for the Indians. Diksha Dagar with a triple bogey on hole 15, needing 7 strokes for a par 4 and she is tied to down 42nd. On the other hand, Aditi with threew bogeys in the back 9 so far (Holes 12, 13 and 15) and she is toed 40. Diksha is +8 today and Aditi is + 7. Third round hasn't been the charm for Indians. The leaders in comparison are 7 under par overall.

Paris Olympics 2024 Live Updates, 9th August: Golf
Its all sliding away from the Indian golfers. That double bogey from Aditi on hole 7 was followed by two bogeys. She is 4 above par today. Diksha Dagar with four straight bogeys starting from hole 7. She is 5 above par for the day. And there are now either side of top 30. A day that started with slim hope has quickly turned into a washout. Looks like there would not be a last round of hope in golf like Tokyo afterall.

“The last two or three years were not so good for me. I’m always injured. I really tried hard, but I have to work on my injury (staying injury-free) and technique,” the 26-year-old added.
