Paris Olympics 2024: Novak Djokovic scripted history as he bagged the gold medal in the men's singles Tennis event at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Sunday.

Djokovic got the better of young Carloz Alcaraz in the final, defeating the Spaniard 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2) to add more to his extensive list of accolades.

Djokovic celebrated his Olympic triumph by praising his young rival player, who settled for a silver medal on his maiden outing at the big stage.

"Another epic final, @carlosalcaraz. El Clasico. Congratulations to you and your team for an excellent Olympics. Considering your age, your energy and the way you play, you probably have 20 more Olympics ahead of you ??. Your gold will come. Until next time, amigo," Djokovic wrote on X.

The final between the top two Tennis stars produced thrilling action but the Serbian international emerged winner, showing a remarkable display of his heavy experience and ability to capitalise on the big stages.

Notably, this was Djokovic's first-ever gold medal win at the Olympics as he finally achieved the feat in his fifth outing at the sport's biggest extravaganza.

Djokovic's outing at the Olympics witnessed an improved performance from him as compared to the disappointment shown this year so far, making the triumph even more special.

Soon after the victory, Djokovic went down and was left in tears and his shaking body was proof of the remarkable significance of his gold medal win.
