Paris Olympics 2024: India got yet another good news from Shooting at the Paris Olympics 2024 as Arjun Babuta secured a place in the final of the Men’s 10m Air Rifle event, while his Indian compatriot Sandeep Singh couldn’t make the cut.

Arjun recorded a total of 630.1, thereby securing a 7th-placed finish in the qualifying round, making his way into the final.

Sandeep Singh, on the other hand, could only ensure a 12th-place finish with his total score of 629.3, bowing out of the event.

Arjun had started off with a promising effort as he was able to score 105.7 points with a best of 10.8 while the second series did see a small dip from him in the total points as he got only 104.9.

Having managed to remain inside the top 8, Arjun came up brilliantly in the third series with 105.5 points and a best of 10.9 in his 29th shot.

He then carried the momentum into the fourth series and scored 10.8 and 10.9 with the first 2 shots.

Later, a dip in the efforts saw him slip down to eighth but managed to regain the momentum in the next few shots and jumped to the 6th spot.

After all the ups and downs in his outing at the event, Arjun finished seventh to qualify for the final round and be in medal contention.

 

Bronze medal for Manu Bhaker

Making India's day a historic one in Paris on Sunday, shooter Manu Bhaker won the country's first medal at the ongoing games as she clinched a bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol.

She became the first Indian female shooter to win an Olympic medal whereas Ramita Jindal reached the final of the women's 10m air rifle event which will take place on Monday.

Talking about India's outing on the second day so far, PV Sindhu registered a convincing win in her first match whereas Sreeja Akula entered the Round of 32 in Table Tennis.

However, Achanta Sharath Kamal made a shock exit from the Paris Olympics men's singles competition, losing 2-4 to lower-ranked Deni Kozul of Slovenia in a round of 64.
