Winter Olympics 2026: Italy is set to host the 2026 Winter Olympics, a historic first as Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo co-host the Games. The 2026 Winter Olympics is set to take place with a spectacular opening ceremony on February 6, 2026, at the iconic San Siro Stadium in Milan.

The Winter Olympics, also known as Milano-Cortina 2026, will kick off on February 6 at Milan's iconic San Siro stadium, bringing together approximately 3,500 athletes competing in 116 events across 16 sports until February 22, 2026.

When will the 2026 Winter Olympics start

The 2026 Winter Olympics officially start on February 6 with a grand opening ceremony, but the action starts on two days earlier, on February 4, with the mixed doubles curling competition. The ice hockey and snowboarding's big air events will also get underway on February 5.

2026 Winter Olympics: Medal Events

The first gold medal will be awarded on February 7 to the winner of the men's downhill race in Bormio, with Canada's Cameron Alexander and James Crawford among the contenders. Other medal events on the same day include the women's 3000-meter speed skating, men's Big Air snowboarding, and women's ski jumping on the normal hill, promising an action-packed Saturday.
