X (formerly known as Twitter) now lets its users upload 4K videos, a functionality that enhances video quality and places the platform at parity with its major competitors. Creators, influencers, and ultra-high-definition content users can now upload videos to X, which will now be available in sharper details, richer colours, and an unparalleled viewing experience. As a result, X has now positioned themself as a direct competitor in the social media realm, facing off with YouTube and Instagram head-on. Although the implementation of this new strategy might be step by step, the focus of the shifting is clear; X is aiming to evolve into a more creator-friendly platform. Support for 4K videos is expected to revolutionise engagement and speed on the platform, allowing users to upload everything from cinematic content to crystal-clear reels.

4K Videos On X Formerly Twitter

X is trying to improve user retention and in-platform engagement by letting select creators upload videos in 4K, aiming to compete directly with YouTube and Vimeo. The engineering account on X mentioned that this feature will soon be available to all premium subscribers.

According to X's support page, subscribers up until now had the option to upload videos that are 1080p in resolution, capped at 8 GB and three hours. With the resolution increase, X will probably implement new size restrictions on subscribers.

Ever since Elon Musk purchased the company, X has been trying to increase the amount of video content posted by users, which has resulted in increased upload limits for subscribers.

In an attempt to monopolise on TikTok’s uncertainty surrounding its ban in the U.S., X also introduced a dedicated section for short vertical videos complete with a shortcut on the home screen of its mobile applications earlier this year.
