Airtel Payments Bank has launched a new smartwatch with a "tap to pay" feature in collaboration with tech accessory maker Noise and payment network processor Mastercard. Beyond the USP, the smart device offers Bluetooth calling and comes in three colour options. Users having a savings account with Airtel Payments Bank can purchase the watch from the Airtel Thanks app. If you do not have an account, you can open an account from the app to buy the smartwatch.

Airtel Bank's first wearable device can be activated after linking the savings account to the Thanks app. Users can start making payments by tapping the smartwatch on the Point of Sale (POS) machines. It uses NFC on the Mastercard network to ease the payment process. After linking the device, you can make payments in the range of Rs 1 and Rs 25,000 per day.

You can pair the watch via the NoiseFit app. Priced at Rs 2,999, the Airtel Payments Bank smartwatch comes in grey, blue and black. While the watch sits in the entry-level price bracket, it remains to be seen whether buyers will switch from a smartphone and opt for the ease of a wearable for online payments. While the smartwatch comes with a range of features, it does pack some compromises, such as the lack of an OLED screen in the competitive market.
