Bharti Airtel, a popular telecom service provider in India, has launched the Airtel Xstream AirFiber. This fixed wireless access (FWA) device is 5G enabled and will be initially available in Delhi and Mumbai. The services of Xstream AirFiber will roll out in a "phased manner" across India.
Dubbed as the "country's first 5G wireless Wi-Fi solution", this will help users access the internet in areas with limited fibre connectivity. According to Airtel's press release, the device will help narrow the connectivity divide between rural and urban areas.

AirFiber is a plug-and-play wireless device with Wi-Fi 6 that offers superior indoor coverage and can connect up to 64 devices at a time. Plus, this can be "self-installed" by a user. "While fiber to the home will always define the best experience of Wi-Fi at home, AirFiber helps bridge the experience gap for everyone else. Today, we are delighted to launch Xstream AirFiber for consumers in Delhi and Mumbai with a pan-India rollout planned soon," said Shashwat Sharma, Director – Consumer Business Bharti Airtel.
Airtel Xstream AirFiber Plan
A plan of Rs 4,435 (excluding GST) for six months is available with the device that offers up to 100mbps speed. A customer would also have to complete a one-time security deposit of Rs 2,500 at the time of buying the device, which will be refundable.
How to Setup Airtel Xstream AirFiber?
After you purchase the device from an Airtel Store in Delhi or Mumbai (with a special 5G SIM), head to Google Play Store or Apple App Store (depending on your smartphone) and download the "Xstream AirFiber app". The app will help you find a perfect place inside the home and set up the device.
Finally, scan the QR Code at the back of the device to start using the internet. As an alternative, you can use the Wi-Fi name and password mentioned on the same label.
