Amazon Echo Spot Launch in India: Amazon has unveiled its new Echo Spot in India, which will be the successor to its 2017 model that was launched in India in 2018. The new model comes with new design enhancements, that now mirrors the look of the Echo Pop. Although, unlike the previous 2017 version, the new model lacks video calling and smart home cameras.

Key features

The Echo Spot comes with a 2.83-inch touch-screen display, that will show visual information to go with Alexa's responses. For instance, when checking the weather, the device will show the temperature accompanied by a relevant icon. It offers eight different clock face designs and six color options—orange, violet, magenta, lime, teal, and blue—giving users the ability to customize the display to their liking.

Users can set alarms simply by speaking, with the option to choose music or select from four new alarm sounds: Aurora, Daybreak, Endeavor, and Flutter. To snooze the alarm, users can either give a voice command or tap the device.

Audio specifications

The Echo Spot sports a 1.73-inch front-firing speaker. Users will be able to stream music, podcasts and audiobooks from services which include Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, and JioSaavn (Subscription may be required). The screen will display the title of the currently playing song. Another interesting feature is that changing the song and volume adjustments can be controlled through voice commands or one can always use physical buttons on the device.

Since the device is equipped with Alexa support, Amazon has designed 10 unique response animations that accompany voice prompts. These animated responses aren't just limited to voice prompts; the device also displays visual illustrations alongside weather reports.

Smart Home Integration

The Echo Spot can connect to compatible smart home devices and be used to set up Alexa Routines. These routines let users automate a series of actions with a single voice command.

For example, a user might create a morning routine that gradually brightens smart lights and starts playing music. An evening routine could dim the lights and turn on the TV. Routines can be easily set up using the Alexa app. Additionally, Ultrasound Motion Detection enables routines that activate based on the user’s presence in a room.

Communication tools

The device will also support the feature of making audio calls to other Alexa-enabled devices. It also comes with an announcement feature, allowing users to broadcast messages to other Echo devices within the household, as well as a Drop-in feature for establishing audio connections with other devices.

Privacy Features

The Echo Spot includes a microphone on/off button, giving users control over the device's listening capabilities. Additionally, users can review and delete their voice recordings.

Pricing and Availability

The Echo Spot is currently available in Black and Blue on Amazon.in, Blinkit, and both online and physical stores of Croma. Priced at Rs. 8,999, it is now offered at a limited-time introductory price of Rs. 6,449.
