AMAZON has hiked the prices of its Prime subscription plans in India. With the move, the company aims to push subscribers to buy annual subscriptions rather than binge on monthly or quarterly plans. With annual subscriptions being an exception, the company has hiked the price of the other subscriptions by over Rs 100.

Here are the new pricing and benefits associated with each plan.

Amazon Prime Monthly Plan - Rs 299

Priced at Rs 179 before the price rise, the plan has witnessed a jump of Rs 120. It is the entry-level plan a subscriber can buy to experience Amazon Prime benefits.

Amazon Prime Quarterly Plan - Rs 599

Previously priced at Rs 459, the plan has witnessed a hike of Rs 140. The subscription has a validity of three months.

Annual Plans

As a relief to consumers, the prices of Annual Prime and Annual Prime Lite remain unchanged. The Annual Prime membership is available for Rs 1499. On the other hand, the Annual Prime Lite plan starts from Rs 999.

What did Amazon say?

"As a valued customer, you can continue to auto-renew in the same Prime plan at the old price of Rs 459 for 3 months (and Rs 179 for a month) till the last renewal before January 15, 2024," Amazon said in a statement.
"In case the auto payment fails or the customer revokes the consent to auto-renew, you will need to renew Prime at the new prices," the company adds.

Bundled Benefits of the subscription include Prime Music, Prime Video, Exclusive Deals and offers, Prime Gaming, Prime Reading and more.

How to subscribe to Amazon Prime?

Step 1: Head to the Amazon Prime website

Step 2: Click on the "Login to join Prime" button

Step 3: Select the plan you wish to purchase and complete the payment process

A user can purchase an annual plan of Prime via electronic means such as net banking, Amazon Pay Balance, and credit/debit cards. Further, Amazon offers a Pay on Delivery (POD) option to eligible customers for Rs 1499 Prime annual plan. The payment for which can be made via card, cash, UPI or net banking.
