Apple has been making headlines since it announced the dates for the 2024 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. Speculation is on the upswing, whether it's about the iPhone 16 series or AirPods. According to the latest reports, Apple plans to release affordable AirPods later this year. The reports cited Jeff Pu, an analyst who focuses on companies in Apple's supply chain.

Pu noted in his most recent research note with Haitong International Securities, an investment firm, that Foxconn's subsidiary will be one of the providers of the lower-cost AirPods. Not only that, but he stated that the company will begin building the inexpensive AirPods at its factory in India in the fourth quarter of this year.

Previously, Mark Gurman’s report also stated that Apple is planning to introduce the fourth-generation AirPods by September or October, and may include entry-level and mid-tier models which may also feature some new features. As per Gurman, the AirPods will have an improved design, better fit, improved sound quality and an updated USB-C charging port. However, it is still unclear if Apple will introduce the entry-level AirPods as the fourth generation product or if will it be different.

Do note that Apple has not confirmed any update on the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 models and AirPods and we will have to wait to see how Apple will introduce its power-packed lineup this year.

However, Pu is also expecting that the company will introduce AirPods Max in the last quarter of this year. As per Gurman’s report, the USB-C port will only be the talking point about the new over-ear headphones. Additionally, one can expect new colours.
