Apple will host the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 from June 10 to June 14. The company could make several hardware and software announcements at the event. A prominent highlight could be iOS 18 because of the AI features. Ahead of the showcase, Apple is working on a large language model with generative AI capabilities that will likely run on-device entirely, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
According to the journalist's Power On newsletter, the company is exploring big projects like AR glasses and personal robots. However, the limelight this year will focus on AI on Apple products. The company is reportedly in talks with Google and OpenAI for AI integrations. Also, Gurman noted the initial AI features may not be better than the competition.
Because of being on-device, the system will rely on the processor more than a cloud-based connection. While the AI tools may be less knowledgeable and powerful, the processor-dependent apparatus will help ensure faster responses and privacy of the user. Plus, Apple could adopt a different marketing approach.

The tech giant may present how the technology can help iPhone users in real life rather than boasting the capabilities of a chat model or generative AI. Apple will likely detail its AI plans at the WWDC 2024. At the event, the company could elaborate on iOS 18 and the next OS versions of iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and Vision Pro.
Apple iOS 18 is rumoured to be the "biggest" update in iPhone's history. While the developer beta update of the iOS 18 may be released soon after the announcement at the WWDC, the stable release could follow in September, around the time of the launch of the iPhone 16 series. These models could support a range of AI features in the software.
