Apple iPhone 16 Leaks: Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 16 series next month. The smartphones are rumoured to arrive on September 10, 2024. Ahead of the launch, the camera specifications of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro devices have leaked online. While rear optics on the vanilla and the Plus models may remain unchanged, the Pro trims may witness notable upgrades.
Here are more details about the camera specifications of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus Camera Specs (Expected)
According to AppleInsider, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus may retain the same rear cameras. The primary lens could get 1x and 2x zoom, and the ultrawide may ship with 0.5x zoom. The rear camera module may be aligned in a vertical array, a departure from the diagonal placeme on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
The report also speculates the camera array may remain the same until 2026. It may offer a 48MP rear with 2x optical zoom. The ultrawide sensor may get a faster aperture to improve low-light performance. For the first time, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro may offer macro photography.
iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max Camera Specs (Expected)
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max may get the same 48MP primary lens with 2x optical zoom. Different from the 3x sensor of the iPhone 15 Pro, both models may sport a 12MP 5X telephoto lens this time. The ultrawide sensor may peak at 48MP this year. This sensor may use pixel-binning technology and could sport the capability to shoot 48MP ProRaw images.
AppleInsider further reported that the tech giant could bring JPEG-XL image format with the series. The Pro models may support 3K 120 FPS recording with Dolby Atmos. All models may gain a Capture button below the power button. It may offer a range of press and touch functions to improve the photography experience on the iPhone 16 series.
