Apple is ramping up accessibility efforts, with an array of new features scheduled to arrive across its ecosystem in late 2025. These tools aim to empower those living with disabilities by offering more inclusive ways for them to interact with their devices – including Braille support and an improved magnifier app. Accessibility Nutrition Labels on the App Store, Braille support on iOS 19, macOS 16, iPadOS 19, and watchOS 12. This follows the announcement at WWDC 2025 in June.

Key Accessibility Features Coming to Apple Devices in 2025

1. Accessibility Nutrition Labels for Apps

Apple will introduce Accessibility Nutrition Labels in iOS 19's App Store, similar to privacy labels. These will enable users to identify which accessibility features an app provides prior to download.

Labels may include support for:

  • VoiceOver

  • Captions

  • Audio Descriptions

  • Voice Control

  • Switch Control

  • Dynamic Text

This new addition ensures users can make informed decisions and discover apps that meet their specific accessibility needs.

2. Magnifier App for macOS

Apple is bringing a powerful Magnifier app to macOS, designed to help users zoom in on objects or read small print with ease.

Key features:

  • Use a USB camera or iPhone’s Continuity Camera to magnify whiteboards, screens, or documents.

  • Desk View mode offers overhead document magnification for easier reading.

This tool is particularly helpful for users with low vision or those who need to examine detailed text or objects.

3. Braille Access Across All Major Platforms

The all-new Braille Access feature will launch on:

  • iPhone

  • iPad

  • Mac

  • Apple Vision Pro

What users can do with Braille Access:

  • Take and save Braille notes

  • Perform calculations using Braille code

  • Launch apps and read BRF (Braille Ready Format) files

  • Interact with system elements using Braille commands

This feature is a major step forward in supporting the blind and visually impaired community.

4. Accessibility Reader

A new Accessibility Reader mode will improve text legibility across Apple’s devices, including iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Customizable settings include:

  • Font style and size

  • Color contrast

  • Spacing options

It is aimed at users with dyslexia or low vision, and will be integrated into the existing Magnifier app.

5. Live Captions on Apple Watch

With watchOS 12, Apple Watch will support Live Captions, allowing users to:

  • View real-time transcriptions of audio captured on a paired iPhone.

  • Control Live Listen sessions directly from their wrist.

This makes it easier for users who are deaf or hard of hearing to engage in conversations and media experiences.

6. Apple Vision Pro Accessibility Enhancements

The Apple Vision Pro headset will now support:

  • Main camera zoom to help visually impaired users observe their surroundings.

  • Braille Access functionality for note-taking and app interaction.

7. Vehicle Motion Cues for macOS

Originally introduced for iPhone in 2024, Vehicle Motion Cues will now come to macOS. This feature helps reduce motion sickness by synchronizing screen movement with real-world motion cues.

8. Smarter Personal Voice and Name Recognition

  • Personal Voice will gain more natural-sounding speech synthesis.

  • Sound Recognition will now alert users when their name is mentioned, enhancing awareness for deaf and hard of hearing users.
