Apple Users Be Alert! Govt Issues Warning For iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, Apple Safari Software; Update Now

Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is known for its tech gadget portfolio. In the latest move, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, functioning under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, has issued a 'high' severity rating warning for Apple users in India due to multiple vulnerabilities discovered in select versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS and Apple Safari.

As per CERT-In, the reported vulnerabilities could allow attackers to access sensitive information and execute malicious codes. Plus, it could enable security restrictions bypass and denial of service (DoS) to perform spoofing activities on a targeted system. These vulnerabilities were spotted in the below-stated software versions.

- iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 17.6 and 16.7.9

- macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.6, Ventura versions prior to 13.6.8, Monterey versions prior to 12.7.6

- watchOS versions prior to 10.6

- tvOS versions prior to 17.6

- visionOS versions prior to 1.3

- Safari versions prior to 17.6

For iPhone and iPad users, the vulnerabilities could lead to sensitive information disclosure and denial of service by overloading the system and bypassing the security infrastructure. On Mac PCs, the impacts of the vulnerable software could include arbitrary code execution for malicious activity, information disclosure, spoofing and DDoS attacks and compromised security protocol.

Apple Watch, Apple TV and Vision Pro users are also vulnerable to similar malicious activity. As for Safari, the flaws could lead to cross-site scripting and spoofing attacks. To remain safe from such activity, users must install the necessary Apple Security updates on the affected software systems. Plus, you can also follow a few other safety measures.
