Apple Vision Pro Update: Now we all know that companies, be it a tech company or a car company, market products with capabilities that they are not able to keep up with when they are finally available to public and are being used. Similarly Apple’s had its fair share of missteps—Siri and Apple Maps being two of the more memorable ones. So when the Vision Pro launched and actually delivered on most of its promises, it caught people off guard. Now, it looks like Apple’s planning to make it even better with a feature that could push the headset into new territory: eye scrolling.

No hands needed?

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a feature for the upcoming visionOS 3 update that would let Vision Pro users scroll just by using their eyes. Instead of relying on hand or finger gestures to move through something like a website, your eyes could do the job. If that sounds like something out of science fiction, well, welcome to the future.

Vision Pro already tracks your eyes to some extent. You can look at something and highlight it—but you still need to do a little pinch gesture to “tap” it. That works well enough and offers a bit of tactile reassurance, but for things like reading or browsing, eye scrolling could make the whole experience feel more natural and fluid.

Apple’s been eyeing this tech for a while

Eye-tracking isn’t totally new to Apple. The company has baked similar features into the iPhone and iPad for accessibility purposes—letting users control an onscreen pointer with just their gaze. And the Vision Pro, with all its built-in cameras and sensors, seems like the ideal playground to bring that tech to life in a more advanced way.

We don’t know yet how well it’ll work in practice, but conceptually, it makes a lot of sense—and sounds like one of those “only Apple” moments when the hardware and software finally click.

What else is coming?

Apple is expected to unveil visionOS 3 at WWDC 2025. Eye scrolling may be one of the headline features, but it’s not the only thing to watch for. Apple could also introduce its long-rumored AI system, Apple Intelligence, to the headset. While it hasn’t made much of a splash on iPhones so far, it might feel more at home inside a device like the Vision Pro, where immersive interactions could take it to the next level.

On top of all that, there are whispers that Apple’s working on new Vision Pro models. One might be lighter and more affordable, and another could connect to a Mac via a cable, possibly aimed at professional users or developers.

So yes, the Vision Pro lived up to the hype. But with visionOS 3 and eye scrolling on the way, it might just start to feel magical all over again.
