Apple Vision Pro is now available for buying in the US across Apple stores. Soon after the release, AppleTrack shared a durability test of the device that revealed it is much stronger than expected. And in the latest update around experimentations, iFixit has shared a teardown that revealed the internal components of the headset. The disassembly revealed a range of details such as the camera lenses, displays, fans and more.
During the teardown after removing the Solo Knit Band, two layers on the front pop out to reveal the camera hardware. The speakers and the band can be removed from the headset using the SIM ejection pin. Digging deeper, a range of screws and the battery pack intertwined in a complicated array are visible.
The tough part is completely dismantling the main assembly that ships with massive amounts of screws, cables, brackets, connectors and more arranged in a complicated fashion. Vision Pro's EyeSight feature uses lenticular lenses and film to present a rendered version of the wearer's eyes using 3D effect, The Verge noted.
The Vision Pro's EyeSight seems like a repair Achilles’ heel—so many points of failure for a slightly creepy feature. In part one of our teardown, we took a look at how its three-layer display creates that uncanny 3D-ish video of the wearer’s eyes. https://t.co/RqWadVbN9U pic.twitter.com/uYONTB6WMF

Considering the complex interiors of the device, iFixit added that more content to explain the structure will arrive soon. In the image of the components posted on X (formerly Twitter), the opened battery pack, internal fan, camera array, display assembly, motors (for the lenses), and more are visible.
The battery and speakers are repair-friendly as is evident during the easy assembly. Users can check out the full video on the iFixit channel from here. For the unaware, the Vision Pro comes with micro-OLED 100Hz displays with 23 million pixels. It gets M2 and R1 chips and runs on visionOS.
A total of 12 cameras, six mics and five sensors are present on the headset. The provided battery pack can deliver a backup of up to two hours with general use. For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. As for extras, Vision Pro ships with Optic ID for security and Spatial Audio for an immersive audio experience.
