APPLE Watch is a constant attention seeker in the media for its accurate health indication sensors. It has alerted users in the past to combat life-threatening diseases. The latest story is of Ken Counihan who was alerted against a life-threatening disease, reported News 5 Cleveland.
The user interacts with his watch for multiple reasons. From calls, workouts to music, however, the life-saving sensors were not tinkered with usually. In October last year, he was alerted that his "breathing was elevated." He consulted outpatient care for the increase in per minute breaths. After an X-ray, he was put on medications for bronchitis, the report adds. But the anecdote does not end here.
After he went home for rest, he was alerted again about low blood oxygen. It dropped to mid-80s, he added, which is below the stable range. "It was 10 o'clock at night. My wife was very concerned. My son was very concerned. I was like 'I just want to go to bed. I'm tired…and they were both like 'No, you've got to get to the ER (Emergency room)," he is quoted in the report.
Once he shared the numbers from the Apple Watch, he underwent extra scans, revealing a severe health condition. "They took me back to the CT scan and found that I had blood clots all over my lungs," he said. "Blood clots actually can become a life-threatening condition if they're not caught early enough," said Dr Lucy Franjic, an emergency medical physician at Cleveland Clinic.
Apple Watch Notifies Wearer of AFib
Recently, a writer shared with BBC that he was notified of atrial fibrillation in the heart. A-fib is irregular and often very rapid heart rhythm. Adam Croft "felt a bit dizzy" one evening and discovered the notifications in the watch the next day. As a result, the wearer consulted medical help, and the disease was confirmed. He was put on blood thinners to undergo a cardioversion procedure.
Apple Watch Warns User of GI Bleeding
Another wearer was warned of internal bleeding in the past. A Reddit user shared his experience wherein the series 7 watch alerted of gastrointestinal bleeding. After the owner dozed off, he woke up to repeated notifications of a racing pulse rate. After the checkup, the wearer was informed of severe GI bleeding. "They (medical staff) said had I not got there for a transfusion when I did, I'd not have made it," the user posted. It is amazing to see a device traditionally made to keep track of time in the day evolve to this extent.
