APPLE, a California-based technology company that is currently making a number of changes to its existing product lineup, is rumoured to be planning to release the next-generation AirPods case with a built-in touchscreen. According to MacRumors, this comes after the company filed a new patent for the technology, which will allow users to control audio sources and interact with applications that are directly associated with the device.

It's interesting to note that the business originally submitted the patent application in September 2021, and last week, the US Patent and Trademark Office published the patent application titled "Devices, Methods, and Graphical User Interface Interactions with a Headphones Case."

"By configuring a headphone case with an interactive user interface to enable user control of operations associated with the wireless headphones, the utility of a headphone case can be enhanced, and user control over a user's wireless headphones can be improved," according to the patent.

With this patent application, consumers can anticipate that the AirPods case will control the standard features—such as playback, switching audio tracks, output modes, and so forth—that are currently expected of the headphones. The Airpod case may allow the user to access some applications like Phone, Mail, Messages, Camera, Calendar, Weather, Maps, and more.

Additionally, the headphone case could also provide user information to the users with its display, it further added. Furthermore, the company is expected to add more features, processors, and memory which would be doing dedicated features which currently smartphones, computers, and other devices are anticipated to do, says the report.

However, it is pretty much less likely that the tech giant could launch the device anytime soon but it is interesting to note that the company is currently considering ways to introduce next-generation technology to its devices.
