Apple has officially locked in the dates for WWDC 2026, and this year’s event already feels bigger than a routine software showcase. The company confirmed that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference will begin on June 8 at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, with the keynote expected to set the tone for Apple’s next phase of software and AI upgrades.
The event will run until June 12, but like every year, the opening keynote is where all the major announcements are expected to happen. From iOS 27 and iPadOS updates to a much smarter Siri experience, Apple is likely preparing one of its most AI-focused WWDC presentations yet.
Interestingly, the timing is also hard to ignore. Apple’s announcement arrives just a day before Google hosts Google I/O 2026, which means the two companies are once again expected to compete for attention around AI, software ecosystems, and the future of smart assistants.
When And Where To Watch WWDC 2026
Apple’s keynote will take place on June 8 at 10AM PDT. For viewers in India, the livestream starts at 10:30PM IST. The company will stream the keynote on its official website, the Apple TV app, and YouTube.
iOS 27 Could Be Built Around Apple’s Foldable Ambitions
While Apple is expected to announce updates across all its platforms, iOS 27 will likely remain the biggest attraction of the event.
Last year, Apple introduced the Liquid Glass design language, which was seen as the company’s biggest visual redesign since iOS 7. This year, reports suggest Apple may continue refining that experience while also preparing iOS for a completely new type of hardware.
The biggest clue? Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone
Leaks and reports suggest the company has been internally developing a foldable device that sits somewhere between an iPhone and an iPad. Because of that larger display and flexible form factor, Apple may need to redesign several apps and multitasking features inside iOS 27. Even if the foldable iPhone itself does not launch immediately, WWDC 2026 could give developers and users an early look at how Apple plans to adapt its software for foldable screens.
Siri Could Finally Feel Like A Modern AI Assistant
Another major focus this year is expected to be Siri.
For years, Apple’s voice assistant has lagged behind rivals when it comes to natural conversations and contextual understanding. WWDC 2026 could finally change that.
Reports suggest Apple is working on a far more intelligent Siri that can understand personal context better by pulling information from emails, messages, photos, and videos to help users complete tasks more naturally. The assistant is also expected to gain onscreen awareness, which means Siri may be able to understand what is currently visible on your screen and respond accordingly.
There is also growing speculation that Apple could introduce a chatbot-style Siri experience that works more like OpenAI ChatGPT or Google Gemini. Some reports even suggest Siri may eventually exist as a standalone app with support for both text and voice conversations.
Apple is also expected to improve Siri’s ability to work across apps, allowing it to perform more complex actions without users constantly switching between applications manually.
iPadOS, macOS And watchOS Updates Also Expected
Alongside iOS 27, Apple is expected to announce iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and updates for the rest of its ecosystem. While details around these platforms remain limited right now, Siri’s AI improvements are expected to reach almost every Apple device.
WWDC 2026 may also end up becoming an emotional moment for longtime Apple followers. Reports suggest this could be Tim Cook’s final WWDC keynote before stepping down later this year, which adds even more significance to an event that already carries massive expectations.
